The re...in...statement

Never lie, say the wise men. Because if you lie, you have to tell many more lies to justify that one lie or hide that lie. The President made this same mistake while making a speech on the second death anniversary of his beloved wife whose picture is never too far from his heart, or hand. Although he made several implied attacks on judiciary, Army and 'the establishment' in that speech, he now comes out with a new statement every day in order to wash his hands off all that. Alas, he knows not that the arrow that leaves the bow cannot come back. Of late, he has also come up with (yet) another theory why people are against him. This time, he says, people are against him because he is trying to protect the rights of the Balochs. What rot In this country, no one has ever been against the Balochs or their rights. In a further twist of (attempted) witticism, Mr Zardari has also said now that, "people are against me because I have supported reinstatement of the real judiciary". This is high comedy at its most hilarious and worth writing in gold. I think the best scribes to record this statement (in gold, naturally), would be Fauzia Wahab or Farzana Raja. -ALLAH BUX SOOMRO, Pannu Aqil, January 2.
