MUZAFFARGARH - Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) filling stations, on the call of the All Pakistan CNG Association, across the South Punjab observed complete strike on Sunday as a protest against ‘unjust’ increase in the gas tariff.
The rickshaw and wagon drivers also protested against the hike in gas tariff and ban on use of CNG in commercial vehicles. Traffic around Jhang chowk was remained blocked as CNG stations owners gathered at the GTS chowk where rickshaw, taxi and wagon drivers joined them.
The demonstrators were protesting against the suspension of gas supply for five days a week. They said the CNG sector had invested more than Rs24 billion but the government never gave them relief. Some transporters parked their vehicles outside the CNG stations to protest against non-provision of gas. People faced massive problems due to the closure of CNG stations and transporters’ strikes, as they were unable to reach their destinations.
