LAHORE – The Supreme Court dismissed a contempt plea against the Punjab government for not appointing vice chancellors at King Edward Medical University (KEMU) and University of Health Sciences (UHS) in view of court directions.

A two member bench comprising Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jilani and Justice Sarmad Usman Jilali passed the order on the petition moved by Prof Naseer.

The petitioner had sought contempt proceedings against the government by submitting that provincial authorities were not appointing regular vice chancellors of KEMU and UHS despite court directions to fill the posts within three months.
