LAHORE - The government has approved the up-gradation of about 1,000 Customs officials along with the sanction of around 1,300 inspectors of Inland Revenue Services up-gradation to 16 scale from 14th.

The FBR Federal Revenue Alliance Union president Mian Abdul Qayyum has appreciated the President, PM, Federal Minister Khurshid Shah and FBR Chairman Ali Arshad Hakeem for accepting the longstanding demand of the union to also upgrade Customs department Appraisers, Examiners and Preventive officers along with income tax inspectors, asking the government to also fulfill demand of promotion of class four employees of FBR.

He said that notification, in this regard will be issued within a couple of days, adding that LTR, Lahore will celebrate this event with federal minister Khurshid Shah in the chair.

He said that the govt has also promised to upgrade all Class IV employees of the FBR which were more than 5,000 in line with the policy.

FRA Union President said that it was pleasant news for the Customs officials as well as the income inspectors, who after a long period of around 30 years, were upgraded.

Union other leaders, who appreciated the Federal minister included general secretary Rashid Shah, honourary VC Ch Akram, general secretary Lahore Azhar Javed, president Lahore Naeem Abbas Shah, central general secretary Ghulam Akbar Chandio, Islamabad region president Arif Aziz, Sialkot president Ch Akhtar Hussain, Faisalabad president Mujahid Hussain, Pishawar president Irshad Baghi, Rawalpindi president Shahraiz Qaiser, Multan president Ashraf Khan, Bahawalpur president Afzal Khan, Karachi president Raja Wasim, Sakkhar, Abbotabad and Quetta presidents. The union greeted the whole staff of FBR for their up-gradation to 16th scale from 14th, asking the government to issue notification earlier in this regard. He also hailed the efforts of the ruling PPP government, which provided all out support to the employees of FBR.

Mian Qayyum said that the workers have attached their hopes with the present government that it would also fulfil other longstanding demand. He said that the authorities should utilise best abilities to facilitate the employees who are collecting revenues for the government despite all odds.
