PESHAWAR – Elders of Kochi (nomad tribe) have demanded of the government to issue Computerized National Identity cards (CNIC) to them to facilitate their difficulties in dealing businesses with people.Addressing a press conference here at Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday, the head of Kochi tribe, Haji Inayat Kochi said that the government had issued CNICs to Salamzai and Akh-Khel tribes, but the facility was yet to be extended to Kochi tribe (Ahmadzai). We are facing enormous difficulties in dealing business with other people due to absence of CNIC”, Inayat said. He added that the commercial banks had also declined to open their accounts owing to non-availability of the facility. Accompanied by Haji Jabbar, Haji Asadullah and other members of the tribe, Inayat said that the tribal people had played an important role for the protection of the country’s borders without any incentives and fought along with border security forces in different wars. “We are patriotic tribal people, and rendered sacrifices for this motherland”, he added. Explaining experience and ordeals in nomadic life, Asadullah said that people belonging to Kochi tribe could not permanently reside at one place and continue shifting to different cities of Punjab province and other parts of the country. “We had invested money in different business in Khyber Paktunkhwa province; mostly traveled to Naran and Kaghan valleys in the summer, but we confront with difficulties due to the non-availibility of CNIC,” he explained.The tribal elders demanded of President Asif Ali Zardari, Adviser to Prime Minister on Interior, Rahman Malik, and high officials of National Database Registration Authority to play their role for issuance of CNIC facility to them. They also warned that if the government was failed to accepted, would compel to protest against it.
