LAHORE – Blaming the Gujranwala incident on bureaucracy, the Punjab Young Doctors Association Wednesday announced suspending services at indoors after the closure OPDs, demanding registration of attempt to murder case against the health secretary after suspension.
Demanding renewal of contract of their colleagues, the young doctors tortured a Gujranwala hospital medical superintendent and journalists earlier Wednesday.
Addressing a press conference at Services Hospital hostel Wednesday evening, the Punjab YDA officebearers including Dr Hamid Butt, Dr Nasir Abbas, Dr Amer Bandesha and Dr Usman said the Gujranwala incident was related to the service structure demand, lingering on due to attitude of the bureaucracy. Punjab Paramedics Alliance leaders Malik Munir and Shoaib Anwar Chaudhry were also present.
The YDA leaders claimed that young doctors were suspended and the management of Gujranwala hospital was using delaying tactics in their restoration. On the behest of health secretary, they claimed, the MS tortured doctors and the injured were not allowed treatment.
They said the OPDs had already been closed while the services at indoors would be suspended if the secretary was not suspended within two hours. The paramedics announced support to YDA.
On the other hand, The YDA strike at OPDs during the morning and at indoors during the night caused deep troubles for patients.
Attendants of patients cursed the protesting doctors and demanded the government adopt concrete measures to restore normalcy at hospitals on permanent basis.
