PESHAWAR - Gunmen abducted Medical Officer Lady Reading Hospital Dr Farooq Zia from Yakatoot area here on Thursday morning.
Dr Farooq Zia was also the in-charge of medical-B ward of the hospital.
Sources and Police said Dr Farooq Zia was on way to home at 6:30 am when men equipped with arms picked him up near Pirdas Padas area in the jurisdiction of Yakatoot Police Station.
The kidnapping news of Dr Farooq Zia spread like jungle’s fire in Peshawar. Police rushed to the area after the happening and launched a search operation, however no arrest had been made till filing of this report.
It is pertinent to mention here that in the past armed men had also kidnapped Dr Amjad Taqweem who was later recovered from Jamrod area of Khyber Agency.
The latest incident of Kidnapping of Dr Farooq has sent a panic wave among other doctors. The doctors have threatened to boycott all tertiary hospitals of the city.
COP KILLED IN TANK BLAST
At least one policeman was killed and three others wounded in a remote controlled bomb explosion in Pathhar area of Tank district.
Official sources said that a remote controlled bomb planted on roadside was exploded when the police van of Saddar Police Station, Tank was passing the area. As a result once policeman was killed and two others injured in the incident.
Moreover, in another incident militants blew up a government girls school in Charsadda’s Dhab Bandha area on Thursday.
The gate of the school was damaged in the explosion whereas the building also sustained partial damage. There was no loss of life reported in the incident.
