KARACHI - Jamiat-e-Ulema Pakistan Sindh leaders have urged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to remove ambiguity over the holding of the LB polls in Sindh.

Addressing a Press conference her on Thursday, JUP Sindh secretary general Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro, Maulana Saleha, Siraj Ahmed Shah, Maulana Ramzan and information secretary Aslam Ghauri said the provincial government wants to promulgate the Local Government system according to its desire.

On the other side, the Opposition seems isolated on the issue, moving the masses away from the LB polls.

The provincial government and the Opposition’s dispute over the LB polls has created doubt over the holding of the elections in Sindh. The process of filing the nomination papers all over again has troubled the contesting candidates, they added.

The battle between the provincial government and the Opposition parties, to capture the municipal institutes, has created uncertainty in the province, they said.

JUP leaders demanded the government to take all the political forces into confidence over the issue, including those political parties which are not part of the assemblies. They urged the ECP to remove uncertainty over the holding of the LB polls in Sindh.
