KARACHI - Karachi Transport Ittehad and Comprising Natural Gas (CNG) Association Sindh in a joint statement announced an indefinite period strike from Sunday as the negotiations between the SSGC and CNG association has failed. CNG association Sindh leader Sameer Gulzar and Chairman Karachi Transport Ittehad Irshad Bukhari after failure of negotiation with Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) in connection of four days closure of CNG in Sindh announced that CNG station across the province will be shut down from upcoming Sunday while public transport would be halted for indefinite period.
Sameer Gulzar while talking to The Nation said that we have demanded to SSGC to cut the gas supply to industrial zones and revised previous schedule of CNG closure for three days in a week but SSGC rejected their request.
Against the non-serious behaviour of SSGC administration both unions finalised to call strike, Sameer informed.
On the other side, Chairman Transport Ittehad Irshad Bukhari said that due to the three days closure of CNG in the city, transporters also facing massive financial loses, “we cannot bear more loses and have decided to go on strike.
Both leaders said that the gas company did not cut gas supply to other commercial consumers including shopping malls, restaurants, hotels and others while common citizens are suffering because of lethargic attitude of gas company.
It is worth mentioning here that unstable schedule of the CNG stations have ruined the whole transport mechanism and long queues across the city caused massive traffic jam across the city.
