100,000 new voters registered in Toba

TOBA TEK SINGH - During the last one year, over 100,000 new voters were registered by Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the Toba Tek Singh district, said District Election Commissioner Mian Aslam.

A 24-day campaign will be started from Jan 15 in the district to verify 100,000 more new NIC holders while data will be sent to ECP for including them in the voter lists. He said for the purpose, the services of 700 teachers had been obtained and they will be paid Rs10,000 each for the completion of task.

He said after the end of 24 day verification task, the process of data entry of new NIC holders and deceased voters, printing of updated electoral rolls, the publication of lists, disposal of objections and corrections and issuance of final lists, will continue from Feb 9 to April 30.

He said that as the terms of national and Punjab assemblies would come to end on May 5 so all the work of the ECP for holding of 2018 general election would be got completed one month before the end of the term of the national and Punjab assemblies.
