Hearing of case against Sharifs adjourned till Jan 9

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz appeared before accountability court in Islamabad as hearing on three corruption references filed by NAB resumed today.

NAB has filed references with regard to Sharif family's London properties and Azizia Steel Mills.

Strict security arrangements were made around the accountability court.

Furthermore, two witnesses presented by prosecution, Muhammad Tasleem Khan and Zawar Manzoor, recorded their statements in front of the court.

In his statement Tasleem told the court that he submitted record regarding Hassan and Hussain Nawaz.

Meanwhile Zawar Manzoor stated that he appeared before investigation team in September 2016. "The statement of another witness Muhammad Rasheed was recorded in front of me by investigation team," he further said.

He however said that record presented by Muhammad Rasheed was not in sealed file. "Sidra Mansoor however submitted real and attested record," he told the court.

While talking to media outside the court, Nawaz Sharif said that there is nothing strange in his visit to Saudi Arabia.

"Pakistan has relationship with Saudia since 1947," he said. "People who are spreading rumors about my visit to friendly state are irresponsible."

The ousted prime minister hit PTI Chairman Imran Khan and Supreme Court once again stating that despite Imran's confession of doing transactions of millions of dollars, he was declared 'Sadiq and Amin' by Supreme Court bench.

"Imran and SC bench lost in NA-120 by-polls," he asserted.

The hearing of the case was adjourned till January 9. Six more witnesses will be presented in next hearing.
