LAHORE - The English Literary Society and Progressive Writers' Association organised a sitting on Kazuo Ishiguro, a Japanese origin British novelist, here the other day. The session was presided over by Prof Anwarul Haq. Salma Awan and Asim Butt were chief guests.
Writers Amjad Tufail, Rubia Jilani, Asim Shujaee, Raza Naeem, Mian Salahuddin, Comrade Shafique and Dr Atta ul Wahdood shed light on various aspects of fiction writing of Ishiguro. They also found his writings mostly based on emotional intensity and social realism which provided a great motivation for Japan’s rebuilding after destruction during the World War II. He emphasized peace across the globe as the world was in the state of disorder, uncertainty and threatened by instability. They said Ishiguro’s novels, written in narrative style, were easily understandable with deep effect and moving force. No reader can remain unmoved by his thoughts and ideas on humanism and worldwide fraternal relations.
