Traders' input to be accommodated

ISLAMABAD (Agencies) -Federal Minister for Commerce Makhdoom Amin Fahim on Thursday assured the members of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) that their input regarding trade policy would be accommodated, which is expected to be announced in the third week of July. He stated this at a meeting with delegation of ICCI led by its President Mian Shaukat Masud, which called on the Minister here in his office today. The Minister apprised the delegation about his successful visit of EU along with the President. The delegation shared with the Minister that overseas Pakistanis are interested to invest; however they need some conviction from the govt side in this connection. The delegation showed concern over the power outages in Islamabad, which had affected the steel industry in Islamabad. The Minister assured that government has directed the concerned authorities to resolve the problem on war footing bases. The delegation also showed concern over the demand of small traders chambers. Their plea was that despite of the fact that Islamabad is a small city; the membership of ICCI has reached to the tune of more than 3000. Meanwhile, Federal Commerce Secretary Suleman Ghani has said government will announce new 3-year trade policy on July 25.
