Envoys urged to focus on economic diplomacy

ISLAMABAD (APP) President Asif Ali Zardari on Friday asked the countrys envoys abroad to focus on further strengthening and promoting political, economic, trade and commercial ties of Pakistan with rest of the world. He was talking to a group of Pakistani envoys designated to around 11 countries who called on Friday to seek his guidance prior to leaving for their stations of appointment. The President felicitated them on their new assignment and urged them to pursue economic diplomacy, as national economic interests were a vital component of the foreign policy. The envoys-designate thanked the President for the confidence reposed in them and assured to do their best to strengthen Pakistans bilateral ties with the countries of their posting. The newly appointed envoys who called on the President included Ambassador-designates to Tunisia - Athar Mehmood, Poland - Murad Ali, Romania - Rab Nawaz Khan, to Norway Faiz Mohammad Khoso, Korea - Shaukat Ali Mukaddam, Czech Republic - Aitzaz Ahmed, Iraq - Shah M. Jamal, Ukraine - Maj Gen (r) Ahmed Nawaz Saleem, High Commissioner-designate to Tanzania Tajammul Altaf, Consul Generals designate to Chicago Zaheer Pervaiz Khan and Kandahar - Farmanullah Khan.
