LAHORE The All Pakistan Newspapers Society has requested the Punjab Home Minister and IG Police Punjab to advise the concerned officials of North Cantonment police station to take immediate action on the FIR of Syed Muhammad Munir Jilani, Finance Secretary of the APNS, lodged against the theft of valuables amounting to over Rs 12 lakhs. The APNS has stated that Syed Muhammad Munir Jilani, Finance Secretary of the APNS, had lodged an FIR in the North Cantt police station Lahore a week ago against the theft in his house. The accused have been apprehended and handed over to the police station and they admitted to the theft of the cash, jewelry, mobile phones and laptops from the house. The Police Investigation Officer, Inspector Ghulam Abbas and Sub Inspector Shehbaz Ahmed having investigated the case and recovered a major party of stolen valuables, are now supporting the culprits and have not taken any action against the other 03 accused nominated in the FIR. It appears that they have planned to take the recovered amount and release the culprits from the case. The APNS strongly urges upon the government of the Punjab to protect the media-man from traditional highhanded tactics and ensure recovery of stolen valuables and appropriate action against the accused nominated in the FIR. Reporter adds: The Investigation Officer Inspector Ghulam Abbas, when contacted, said that they arrested 14-year-old housemaid of the complainant as per complaint and sent her to jail. He further said that the father of the girl has also been arrested and is being investigated in this regard for the last six days. He said that neither the girl or her father, have confessed the theft to the police nor the police have recovered even a single penny from the accused. He also said that raids are underway to nab other accused mentioned in the FIR and police are trying to ensure merit-based investigations in this case.
