PESHAWAR (APP) - Pakistan Muslim League-(PML-N) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA have opposed the promulgation of civil power regulation in FATA and PATA 2011, saying that political agent was empowered to give death penalty to tribal people under the regulation. Speaking at a news conference, here at Peshawar Press Club (PPC), PML-N organising Secretary, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rehmat Salaam Khattak said that the step was totally undemocratic and unconstitutional. Flanked by Syed Wali Shah Afridi, and Zar Khan Safi, he expressed anguish that a democratic government has taken such step, which was sheer injustice with tribal people. Khattak said the former Musharraf-led military regime had allowed US to carry out drones strikes inside tribal areas by putting country solidarity and integrity on stake. He said that bombardment on patriotic tribesmen was totally unjustified, saying that the peace Jirgas, life and property of tribal people is not secured in the prevailing situation in FATA. He said that PML-N would fully participate in tribal Loya Jirga (grand council), which is going to be held on July 4 in Nishtar Hall Peshawar. He said the tribal people had adversely affected from wrongdoing of former President General (r) Pervez Musharraf. PML-N activist condemned the illegal detention of 172 members of Safi Mahsood Peace Jirga in Mohmand Agency and expressed concern over banning of meeting with detainees. He demanded for immediate release of members of Peace Jirga. He said due to imposition of colonial era draconian Frontier Crime Regulations, the basic human rights are being violated in tribal areas. The progress and development is not possible until the extension of Political Parties Act to FATA and abolishment to black law in tribal belt, he observed. More than 80 million tribal people have deprived of their basic human rights due to absence of Political Parties Act in FATA, he said. He said that due to lack of audit system, millions of rupees have been embezzled every year.
