Army on top with 151 medals

ISLAMABAD - Hosts Islamabad won the first gold medal as Army continued their dominance in the National Games 2013 on the fourth day in running on Tuesday. 
Army won 77 gold medals so far while lifted 52 silvers and 22 bronze with total 151 medals. Punjab were on second slot with 10 golds, 15 silvers and 22 bronze medals with total 47 medals while Navy were occupying third spot with six golds, 13 silvers and 22 bronze medals total 41 medals.
Railways had won five golds, four silvers and six bronze medals with total 15 medals, PAF won four golds, two silvers and three bronze medals with total nine medals, Sindh earned three golds, three silvers and nine bronze medals with total 15 medals, KPK got one gold, seven silvers and nine bronze medals with total 17 medals, Islamabad won one gold, two silvers and seven bronze medals with total 10 medals, Balochistan managed three silvers and nine bronze medals with total 11 medals and Fata won one silver and one bronze medal.
Islamabad won its first and only gold medal in tennis event when Ahmed Chaudhry beat Sanaullah of PAF 2-1 in the final after a tough battle. Ahmed won the final 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 while Heera Ashiq of Army won the bronze medal.
Railways posed a serious threat to strong Army judo team and managed to win three gold medals. In 73kg category male event, Azhar Khan of Railways grabbed gold, Imtiaz Ali of Army silver and Naveed of Navy and Qaiser Khan of Fata bronze. In 81kg category, Taimoor Ali of Army bagged gold, M Taimoor of Punjab silver, Yasir Iqbal of KPK and Aamir Ali of Railways bronze. In 90kg category, Miraj (Railways) notched up gold, Mubeen (Islamabad) silver, Waqar Butt (Punjab) and Bilal Khan (KPK) bronze. In weightlifting 94kg category, Salman Bashir (Army) won gold, Asad Talal (Punjab) silver and Aamir Nawaz (KPK) bronze. In 85kg category, Remeshan Ali (Army) secured gold, Salman Aqeel Butt (Punjab) silver and Rashid Khan (Punjab) bronze. In 77kg category, Shahid Sultan (Army) grabbed gold, Umar Bashir (Punjab) silver and M Arif (Sindh) bronze.
In netball event female final, Sindh beat Army 24-16 while Punjab bagged third position. In the male final, Sindh overcame a spirited Punjab after a tough 24-20 battle while Army secured bronze medal. In 28km female cycling, Army managed clean sweep by clinching gold, silver and bronze medals. In female athletics long jump event, Javeria Kiran (Punjab) won gold, Malan Khan (Punjab) silver while Sidra Bashir (Army) won bronze. In hammer throw, Abida Changazi (Railways) won gold, Kauseen Tahira (Army) silver and Sajda (Army) bronze.
In 400m male hurdles, Naukar Hussain (Army) won gold, Ghulam Mustafa (PAF) silver and Mahboob Ali (Army) bronze. In 5000m male race, Naushad Khan (Army) claimed first, M Nawaz (Army) second and Sakhawat Ali (PAF) third position. In archery event, Nadeem Ashraf and Zareef (PAF), Mohsin Jamal (Fata) and Huma (Punjab) qualified for the semifinals.
In the men's double table tennis final, Owais/Umair Army beat Mahboob/ Shahzad 3-2; in female's doubles final, Raheela/Yasmeen Punjab beat Rubab/Seemab Army 3-0 and in mixed doubles final, Awais/Seemab Army beat Mahboob/Raheela 3-0.
In squash team event, top seeds PAF and KPK reached the final. In semifinals, PAF beat Punjab 3-0. Farhan Zaman beat Saqib Yousaf 3-0, 11/8, 12/10, 11/6, Owais Khan beat Shoaib Hassan 3-2, 11/6, 6/11, 9/11, 12/10, 11/2 and Naveed Atlas got walk over against Israr Ahmed. In the second semifinal, KPK beat Army 3-0. Waqas Mahboob beat Bilal Zakir 3-0, 11/9, 11/6, 3/1 retd, Mansoor Zaman beat Sadam Ul Haq 3-0, 12/10, 11/9, 11/3 while Waqar Mahboob got walk over against Raees Khan.
