Lahore High Court Justice Ayesha A Malik visited Central Jail of Sahiwal and ordered for release of four detainees involved in minor cases.

Justice Ayesha also visited women and juvenile wards, death cells along with the jail hospital where she inquired after the health of prisoners and also listened to their problems. She then checked quality of medicines being provided there. However, detainees complained that lawyers did not appear in the courts thus their cases were adjourned. She assured them that where lawyers would not appear in the courts, their cases would be decided. She also checked the quality of food being provided in the prison. She asked the inmates about the facilities being provided there and they replied that they were satisfied with the administration.

On the occasion, District and Sessions Judge Abid Hussain Qureshi, Jail Superintendent Gulzar Ahmad Butt, DPO Shahnawaz and other officers were also present.

The jail superintendent said that he daily visit all the barracks of the jail and listened the problems of prisoners. He briefed the justice about the services at jail like cold water and generators etc. He said that education was imparted to the prisoners.
