Minister vows to deliver on public mandate

HAFIZABAD
A red-carpet welcome was accorded to MNA Saira Afzal Tarar on arrived in Hafizabad district for the first after her induction into the Federal Cabinet. It is to be noted that she is the first lady MNA from Hafizabad who has been appointed State Minister. She entered Pindi Bhattian in the afternoon where the PML-N activists including former MPA Mian Shahid Hussain Bhatti, former Tehsil Nazim Pindi Bhattian Ansar Abbas Bhatti and others profusely garlanded her and showered rose petals on her. Firework was profusely displayed and most of the activists were carrying firearms in violation of the ban. Later, her motorcade reached Jalalpur Bhattina where she was given tumultuous welcome by MPA Asad Ullah Arian and hundreds of activists.
Her carvan reached Hafizabad in the night where Hatoo Brothers Transporters given her historic welcome. The activists danced to the beat of drums, horse dances and displayed fireworks for more than half an hour. Later, she arrived in Vanike Chowk where the activists also violated ban on carrying and display of firearms and display of profusely fireworks.
While addressing public meeting, she assured that black sheep would be purged from the departments and transparent and prompt service delivery would be made so as to provide relief to the rightful aggrieved persons. Today she also held a meeting in DCO Office here where she stressed the need for completion of development projects. She particularly stressed the need for prompt functioning of Trauma Centre and Surgical Unit. She directed the officers to perform their duties honestly and with commitment to provide relief to the common man.
Outages bemoaned: Electricity continued playing hide and seek with the citizens amid muggy and oppressive weather, causing a lot of hardship and inconvenience to the masses. The worst outages have deprived the daily wagers and small shopkeepers deprived of their bread and butter. The water supply often remained disrupted throughout the day due to power disruption.
The dwellers of Jinnah Chowk have protested against power shutdown in the area for the past two days and demanded restoration of supply promptly.
The powerless people particularly housewives and daily wagers have urged the Gepco and the Power Minister to take pity on them by reducing the duration of loadshedding and ensure scheduled loadshedding to provide some sort of relief to have-nots.
ROBBED: Another villager was deprived of his generator, cellphone and Rs100,000 by two armed bandits. According to Zafar Iqbal Noon, he was asleep in his house in Madhrianwala last night when two armed dacoits stormed into his house and made away with generator, cell phone and cash.
The police are investigating.
