KARACHI - Police claimed to have killed four militants of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in an alleged encounter at Shadi Khan Goth in Sohrab Goth area of Karachi on Wednesday.
Shadi Khan Goth is situated near Malir Cantt where militants were hiding. Police on a tip off raided the hideout of the militants where militants offered resistance when police asked them to surrender, said District Malir SSP Rao Anwar.
During raid, the police faced massive retaliation on which heavy contingent of police rushed to the spot for backup. Four militants were wounded who were taken to the hospital where doctors pronounced them dead. Rest of their accomplices managed to flee during the exchange of fire, said SHO Khan Nawaz.
Police claimed to have recovered weapons from their possession. Their bodies were taken to morgue for identification after medicolegal formalities at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
THREE KILLED IN KARACHI
Three people were killed in separate incidents of violence in Karachi on Wednesday.
Gunmen shot dead a man at Frontier Colony in Pirabad police precincts.
Police said gunmen riding a motorbike targeted an unknown man and fled. Police rushed to the spot and shifted the victim to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. The body was shifted to morgue for identification after autopsy.
In Kalakot police precincts, gunmen shot dead a man at Gharib Shah Road. Police said the victim has yet to be identified. The body was shifted to morgue for identification after autopsy.
In another incident, Shahbaz Ahmed, 14, was found dead inside his house at Quaidabad area in Shah Latif police precincts. Police officials said the victim was strangled to death. It is yet to ascertain that whether he committed suicide or was killed by someone. The body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy.

Law enforcers claimed to have gunned down three criminals in alleged encounters here on Wednesday.
Superhighway Industrial Area police claimed to have killed a bandit in an encounter at Janjar Goth police station. Jeep driver Najeebullah was wounded during the firing by the bandits. Police rushed to the spot and tried to intercept the bandits. During an exchange of fire, one bandit was wounded. He was taken to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead while his accomplices managed to flee from the scene.
New Karachi police claimed to have killed an alleged Lyari gangster during an exchange of fire near Junajo Jamaat Khana. Police said the gangster identified as Muhammad Ali aka Kuppi was sitting in a rickshaw when police tried to intercept him. During an exchange of fire, Kuppi sustained wounds and later succumbed to injuries. Police said the victim was involved in more than 14 cases.
In another encounter, Gabol Town police killed a bandit in Paposh area, Nazimabad. Police arrested Sehroz Ishaq during routine snap checking from Gabol Town but his accomplice Ali aka Irani fled from the scene. Sehroz confessed to have robbed the airport cabs along with Ali. Police raided the house of Ali, situated in Paposh area, where he offered resistance and tried to flee. During an exchange of fire, he sustained injuries. He was taken to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
