Punjab Minister for Cooperative Muhammad Iqbal Channar has directed the authorities concerned that indiscriminate action should be taken against the profiteers and hoarders.
He warned that increase of even a single penny would not be tolerated in the prices of fruits, vegetables and other essential items and their prices should be brought at the level of two months earlier.
He directed the authorities concerned to ensure that fixed prices of items were displayed on the shops in Ramazan Bazaars.
He was talking with media men after visiting Ramazan Bazaar at College Road here the other day.
He inspected the different stalls established in the bazaar and heard complaints of the consumers.
The minister said the PML-N-led government came in the power with the votes of the people and the government was committed to providing the facilities to the people.
He maintained the Punjab government under the leadership of Shahbaz Sharif wanted to eradicate dearness and profiting. He said that sasta bazaars were meant to give relief to the people and the government had provided a subsidy on flour and 10-km of wheat flour bag was being provided at subsidised rate of Rs310.
Channar said that the Price Control Magistrates should conduct raids regularly against hoarders and profiteers. He lauded the performance of AC Saifullah and his team for making arrangements at Ramazan Sassta Bazaar.
