With a view to effectively prevent the terrorist activities in the country, joint emergency control rooms have been established in all the districts of the country by the law enforcement agencies in collaboration with the Pakistan Army.

In Gujranwala division, the general public has been advised to immediately intimate the control room about the activities of any suspect at 055-ll35.

Meanwhile, army relief centres have also started functioning to collect donations in cash and kind for the IDPs. The police have cancelled leaves of all the cops and have deputed 500 policemen to ensure law and order. He particularly deputed policemen outside mosques and Imambargahs during Iftari, Sehri and Taraveeh timings to prevent any untoward incident.

BOY RUN OVER BY TRUCK: A young bike rider was crushed by a truck on Jalalpur Road near Makki Masjid Hafizabad. According to police source, 16-year-old Zohaib of Mughalpura was on way to the city. When he reached near the Makki Masjid, the truck (GTP-6113) crushed him under its wheels. He died on the spot. The police have registered a case against the truck driver.

CYLINDER BLAST: A woman of Abbasi Town received serious burns when the roof of her house caved in due to explosion of gas cylinder while cooking meals in her house. She was removed to the DHQ Hospital by the Rescue-1122. Later, she was referred to a Lahore hospital due to her critical condition.

SUPPORT PLEDGED: The Department of International Development UK would provide all-out professional assistance for the improvement in the budgeting and planning to resolve the problems in education, health and other departments, DID governess Claire Vallings said.

Addressing meeting in the DCO Office which was attended among others by DCO Mansoor Qadir, DID team leaders and other officials, she said that DID would provide requisite funds and technical assistance for the execution of projects of Hafizabad and Sub National Governance Programme Punjab.

 She said that improvement in the functioning of education and health departments was inevitable for resolving the basic problems of the citizens and to raise the living standard of the masses.
