Punjab Minister for Labour and Manpower Raja Ashfaq Sarwar has said that elaborated arrangements have been made for providing quality food items on subsidised rates during Ramazan.

He was visiting Ramazan bazaars at Riaz Shahid Chowk Islamnagar, Kaleem Shaheed Park Gulam Muhammadabad, Faizan-e-Madina Chowk Susan road and Main Bazaar Jaranwala. He took a round of stalls of the vegetables, fruits and other grocery items and inspected the quality, availability and prices. He directed the stallholders to display price tags on each and every item separately. He also directed the duty officers to keep eye on demand and supply of food items for the facility of the people.

The minister appreciated the arrangements made by the district administration, and said that the efforts were remarkable. Later, talking to the media, minister said that the government was committed to providing economic relief for the public. He said more than 350 Ramazan bazaars had been set up in the province.

Responding to a question, the minister said that the profiteers and hoarders were being dealt with iron hand and Price Control Magistrates had been mobilized to check the trend of price hike in the market.

Earlier, the minister chaired a meeting at DCO office on Ramazan arrangements in district Faisalabad. DCO Noorul Amin informed the minister that 20 bazaars had been established in the district besides arranging the 63 Aftar, Sehr Dastarkhwans. He informed comprehensive arrangements had been made in these bazaars and a control room had also been set up in DCO office for coordination. He said that two mobile phone numbers had also been publicised for receiving complaints and suggestion regarding these bazaars and profiteers through SMS.
