ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Mian M Nawaz Sharif, who is also PCB patron in chief, has expressed satisfaction over Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)'s affairs and reiterated his full support to him in bringing back international teams to Pakistan.
Talking to PCB chairman Najam Sethi, who called on him here on Wednesday, the PM said that the government would support the PCB for restoration of international cricket in the country.
The inside sources said that Sethi was highly appreciated by the Prime Minister for his efficient and transparent work done during the ICC annual conference. It is pertinent to mention here that under the chairmanship of Najam Sethi, the PCB recently had signed binding agreement with arch-rival India to play six bilateral which would help the board in earning 300 million dollars in eight years.
The sources added that the PM also greeted Sethi for his election in the newly-formed, all-powerful International Cricket Council (ICC) Executive Committee (ExCo). The ExCo comprises five members with representations from India, England and Australia besides two others with Pakistan being elected as the fourth and the West Indies as the fifth member of the committee.
It is also worth mentioning here that the ICC has decided to grant Pakistan the fourth rank in the power game after ‘Big-3’ in terms of the percentage of revenue to be received from the ICC in the next eight years from broadcasting and other rights on ICC fixtures.
The PM assured his all-out support to Sethi and hoped that the PCB chief would continue running the board affairs in befitting manners and try his best to revive international cricket in Pakistan,” the sources concluded.
