LAHORE - A sessions judge Thursday issued notice to the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) and sought reply by July 7, on an application seeking registration of FIR against Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and others for publishing wrong map of the country in the geography books of class 8th.
Rizwan Haider Advocate had filed an application in the sessions court under section 22 A 22 B and submitted that on July 1, he approached CCPO through an application R&I 2281 to lodge an FIR against Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and other authorities of School Education Department for publishing a wrong map of the country on textbooks of class 8th.
He stated that the CCPO refused to entertain his application while crime the authorities had committed was of serious nature and equal to misguiding and spoiling the innocent minds of new generation. The map published in geography books showed Saraikastan and Hazara as two separate provinces which was gross violation of the constitution.
He requested the judge to direct the CCPO to lodge FIR against the respondents and bring them to justice.
After entertaining the application of the petitioner, additional district and sessions judge Hamid Hussain issued notice to the CCPO and sought reply on July 7.
MONITORING OF FOOD PRICES: The Punjab secretary for industries told the Lahore High Court Thursday that the department was strictly monitoring food prices in Ramazan Bazaars and markets during the Holy month.
He also submitted detailed report in the court and took undertaking that they would continue proper monitoring of the bazaars.
Justice Muhammad Farrukh Irfan Khan held the proceedings. The judge asked the petitioner’s counsel to also check the report and apprise the court about its status.
Earlier, the judge issued notices twice to the secretary but he could not appear.
Advocate Azhar Siddique had filed the petition stating that the government miserably failed to ensure a decrease in prices of eatable items after the significant decline in petrol price.
He said with the beginning of the fasting month of Ramzan the traders started looting public and there was no authority to take action against them. He prayed the court to order the government to control prices of edible items during the holy month of Ramazan.
