Karachi - PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto has directed the party leaders to speed up the party reorganisation process to move towards launching a campaign against the federal government of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.

He gave these directives while presiding over a meeting of the provincial coordination committees of the Pakistan People’s Party at Bilawal House on Saturday.

Speaking to media after the meeting along with Sindh Adviser to CM on Information Maula Bux Chandio, PPP Central Secretary Information Qamar Zaman Kaira said that all coordination committees presented their progress report to the meeting on the reorganisation process and it was informed that a delay had occurred in the process due the month of Ramazan.

The PPP chairman directed the party leaders to speed up the reorganisation to initiate a campaign against the PML-N government.

Kaira said that Bilawal Bhutto has taken it as a challenge. “We will try to complete this process on time but if not possible then an extension in it could also be given,” he said.

He said that meeting mulled over the issues of Panama leaks, accountability and loadshedding, especially in rural areas of the Sindh, and it was decided that reorganisation process would be completed as soon as possible so the party could flex its muscle to the full in case of a movement against the government.

“Federal government had failed to resolve the issues of the people and if the government will continue to put the things on back burner then it will not last long,” he said.

Speaking over Panama scandal, Kaira said PPP had a clear position on the issue and it would be better for the opposition parties to work jointly on this matter.

About terms of reference (ToRs) for the Panama leaks, he said the government was not ready to listen to them despite the fact that the joint opposition had agreed upon almost all of their demands.

“We asked them to accommodate our demands also but they were not ready to do so,” he said, adding that their questions were same as to which the entire media and the nation wanted the prime minister to respond to.

Responding to PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari’s long stay abroad, Kaira said that Zardari was not barred from returning to Pakistan and he would return as per his own wish.

“When Asif Zardari was in Pakistan we are asked why Bilawal is not running party affairs and now when he is running the party affairs we are asked questions regarding his father’s return,” he said.

Responding to a query, he said that the political parties could have a joint or individual strategy over any movement against the government.

Speaking over reference filed against the top PML-N leadership in Election Commission of Pakistan, Kaira said they hope that the ECP members would be appointed soon but it is quite difficult to get any decision against the PML-N leadership from the commission as was evident from the past.

Speaking on the Panama issue and proposed movement of opposition parties, Muala Bux Chandio said that those political parties who are trying to take solo flight on the issue are hurting the unity of the opposition parties.

“PPP will play the role of an exemplary opposition on this issue and it is leading the parties on this subject,” he said.

The leaders who attended the meeting were PPP Women Wing President and MNA Faryal Talpur, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Murad Ali Shah, Maula Bux Chandio, Nafisa Shah and Rashid Rabbani from Sindh; Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood, Shaukat Basra, Toochi Khan and Nawazish Ali Pirzada from southern Punjab; Qamaruz Zaman Kaira, Jahangir Badar, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Nadeem Afzal Chan, Ch Manzoor, Rana Farooq and Nadeem Kaira from central and northern Punjab; Rahimdad Khan, Humayoon Khan, Noor Alam Khan, Senator Rubina Khalid, and Shazi Khan from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; Sardar Fateh Muhammad Hasni, Senator Sabir Baloch, Haji Ali Madad Jattak, Sardar Sirbuland Khan and Aijaz Baloch from Balochistan.
