Islamabad - Going for a picnic is always great fun. Leaving the home and enjoying some time with your loved ones gives a feeling of relaxation and pleasure.

The same would be the purpose of picnickers on upcoming Eid holidays but a little bit planning may help them enjoy their free hours without any inconvenience. At various recreational points in Islamabad, it has been observed during the last few years that many people throng various picnic spots on Eid holidays, which creates huge traffic mess in many areas and making life difficult for staff at picnic spots.

Before leaving the home to make picnic enjoyable, the people should review all picnic spots along with weather conditions and to opt for a new place instead of going to traditional ones. Several picnic spots exist in a city and reviewing all of them may suggest good alternative to visitors.

Following the police or district administration advisory would also help them avoid inconvenience. Police guide the people about trend as well as rush of visitors towards a specific place and timely review of such advisories may help picnickers move to another place for enjoying their time rather than sticking in traffic jam for hours.

Murree - the nearest hill station from Islamabad - also remains jam-packed on Eid holidays, which also creates inconvenience for residents of Bhara Kahu as visitors have to pass from there to reach Murree.

Traffic jams for several hours have been witnessed in the past on this route which resulted in greater problem to visitors and the local people.

The visit of those coming from outside the city becomes hectic due to such rush. A retired official of a tourism organization at federal level said that there is no planning to promote tourism activities or for guidance of the tourists. People do not have knowledge about various attracting places following which they go to traditional spots where huge crowd or traffic jams damage their actual plans.

However, the good news for tourists is that special plans have been devised by Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) and Punjab police on this Eid to avoid traffic jams in Islamabad and Murree respectively.

Around 200 traffic cops would perform duties in Islamabad and more than 350 in Murree and its adjacent locations. But, ITP has also appealed visitors to keep listening to its FM Radio 92.4 and follow traffic advisories.
