ISLAMABAD (APP) - President of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industries, M Ishaq Butt, on behalf of the entire Chamber, has congratulated the Federal Minister for Commerce Amin Fahim for his kindness to arrange a meeting with a team of officials from UK Boarder Agency (UKBA) and the British High Commission regarding problems in visas issuance to the business communities of Pakistan. The meeting provided them an exceptional opportunity to raise related issues with the British High Commission and officials of the UK Boarder Agency (UKBA). President of Sialkot Chamber stated this in a letter addressed to the Federal Minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim. He admitted that the situation regarding issuance of British Visas had been a matter of concern for a long time. On the one hand, it discouraged bilateral trade, and on the other hand it had badly shaken commercial connections between communities of the two countries, the letter further stated. We understand that the input of trade bodies and the government of Pakistan would be given due consideration in devising the new policy, and the exporters of this country would be given special treatment, he hoped. It may be mentioned here that on April 29, the Chief inspector of the UKBA, John Vine met with representatives from various Chambers including Sialkot Chamber, Rawalpindi Chamber and FPCCI on the issue of Visas problems for the business communities of Pakistan. The meeting was convened because of the personal efforts of Federal Minister for Commerce Makhdoom Amin Fahim who was approached by various Chambers to take up the issue with concerned quarters.
