QUETTA - A leader of National Party (NP) was gunned down in Kech district Thursday while two decomposed bodies of Baloch missing persons were recovered from Lasbela. According to sources, Doctor Muhammad Naseem Jangiyan, district organiser and member of central executive committee of NP, was standing outside a local restaurant in Turbat area of Kech when unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire on him. He received critical wounds and was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his fatal injuries. The assailants escaped from the site after committing the crime. No group has claimed responsibility for the murder and police said it had yet to ascertain motive behind the murder. Police handed over the body to heirs after autopsy and started investigation into the killing. NP announced 10-day mourning and a complete shutter-down strike across the province on Friday (today) against the killing of Naseem Jangiyan. Addressing a press conference at Quetta Press Club, senior leaders of NP Dr Abdul Hayee Baloch, Dr Yasheen Baloch and Dr Ishaq Baloch condemned the killing of Naseem Jangiyan, saying government has miserably failed to ensure the security of the people. In another incident, Levies force personnel recovered two decomposed dead bodies from Uthal area of Lasbela district. Levies sources said that on secret information they recovered two bullet-riddled bodies from Lond Malier area near the Coastal Highway and moved them to hospital where they were identified as Tariq Baloch, resident of Turbat, and Hamad Baloch, resident of Windar. Separately, unidentified people fired three rockets in Dera Murad Jamali targeting a power plant. The rockets exploded with huge bangs. However, no loss of life and damaged to property was reported in the blasts as the rockets luckily landed at deserted locations. Meanwhile, a complete shutter-down strike was observed in Baloch dominated areas of the province on Thursday to condemn the brutal murder of prominent Baloch intellectual and writer Professor Saba Dashtiyar. The strike call was given by Baloch National Front. All shops, markets, banks, restaurants and even medical stores remained closed for the day due to the strike. Life remained at a standstill in these areas due to the strike. The strike was observed in Nushki, Basima, Washuk, Kharan, Dalbandin, Panjgur, Turbat, Gwadar, Khuzdar, Hub, Kalat and other areas. However, a partial shutter-down strike was observed in Quetta.
