ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Economic Survey 2010-11 covering environment sector provides that the country lagging behind to attain targets fixed under United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDG) of forest cover and access to clean drinking water. In year 2004-05, clean water was in access of 65pc of the total population of the country, while under physical targets of MTD for year 2009-10 it was 76pc. However, in year 2010-11 the percentage remained the same, as it was six years ago that is 65pc. While the target for till year 2015 is 93pc. According to same document, 95pc of the urban and 87 per cent of the rural population have access to various areas of improved drinking water supplies with household connection of 48pc and 19pc respectively.
