KARACHI - Four people, including two political activists, were killed on Saturday in the ongoing spree of violence.

Two ex-PPP workers were gunned down in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area.

Identified as 30-year-old Ghulam Shabbir and Aftab Magsi, 35, the victims were sitting outside Afnan Arcade when two unidentified gunmen, riding a motorcycle, appeared on the scene and opened fire on them.

According to DSP Shakeel Awan, the victims were friends and former workers of the ruling PPP. The bodies were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and later handed over to the heirs. The motive behind the dual murder could not be ascertained till the filing of this report.

Separately, body of a young man was recovered from Ahmed Shah Bukhari Road in Lyari. The victim was identified as 24-year-old Saqib, son of Abdul Rasheed, a resident Garden West.

The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi. Police officials said the victim was a butcher by profession and ran a shop in Nazimabad locality. Unidentified armed men took him captive on Friday night when he was sitting outside his house.

Police officials added that the victim was shot four times after being brutally tortured.

The victim was said to be a supporter of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, but the officials denied that he had any such affiliation. He was father of an infant. Further investigations are in progress.

Separately, body of an unidentified man was found from Yasrab Goth within the remits of the Sohrab Goth Police Station.

The body was shifted to a morgue for identification after medico-legal formalities at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
