KARACHI - At least nine people including three political workers were killed in separate acts of violence here on Sunday.
According to details, three youth including two workers of the Pakistan Sunni Tehreek were gunned down in an armed attack by unidentified assailants in Shah Faisal colony. DSP Shakeel Awan said the victims were attacked by unidentified four armed motorcycle riders, killing PST workers namely Suleman alias Sunny and Arif Qadri alias Raja.
Police shifted the injured to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where doctors pronounced them dead.
PST spokesman Fahim Shaikh condemned the incident, demanding the authorities concerned to take action against the outlaws.
Separately, a Jamaat-e-Islami worker was shot dead outside his residence in Sector 7-D in Surjani locality.
The deceased was identified as Hanif Ansari, 55. Police officials said two armed men riding a motorcycle shot dead Ansari when he was sitting outside his home, adding that victim’s son Azhar was also killed few months ago in targeted killing incident.
In another incident, a youth identified as Mohammad Rafiq, 24, was shot dead and his two brothers, Majeed and Kareem were wounded in Hassan Panwar Goth within Shah Latif Police Station. Police officials said the victims were sitting outside their home when unidentified armed men came and opened indiscriminate fire at them apparently over personal enmity.
Separately, a butcher identified as Mohammad Hanif was killed inside his house within Sukhan Police remits.
Meanwhile, bodies of two men were found near Pakistan Hotel in Gadap City area. Police officials said hands and legs of the victims were tied with ropes and initial investigation suggested that they were shot multiple times.
In another incident, a 17-year-old youth was found dead from Shaban Goth in Malir City. Police officials said the victim was kidnapped on Saturday evening. The motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained.
