PESHAWAR - Dozens of tribal students belonging to various educational institutions on Monday staged a protest demonstration against the government for ignoring the second shift students in the Prime Minister Scholarship Programme.
The protesting students led by Fata Students Organization (FSO) Central President Shaukat Aziz, President Khyber Agency Abid Afridi, Kurram Agency President Zabta Khan Mengal and Secretary Information Irshad Afridi were holding placards inscribed with slogans to press for their demands. Talking to the media, the protestors said that the scholarship was not dispatched to certain departments of the public sector universities.
They said the university administrations told the tribal students belonging to Bajuar Agency that they were not eligible for the PM scholarship programme without citing any specific reason.
They termed it a sheer injustice with the militancy-affected students of Fata and urged the government to end discrimination with them immediately and provide scholarships to more than 160 tribal students of second shift studying in various public sector universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
