Islamabad - The inauguration of Metro Bus Service (MBS) was delayed by a day and now Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will inaugurate the multibillion rupee project on Thursday (tomorrow).

The function was delayed due to the other pressing engagements of Prime Minister Sharif today (Wednesday), an official in the Prime Minister’s Office informed but the insiders in the ruling PML-N said that the programme was deferred owing to security reasons and now besides changing the date of the inauguration, the plan of Prime Minister’s ride along with cabinet colleagues and diplomats of various countries on metro bus from starting point of the bus service in Rawalpindi Saddar to Pak Secretariat was also restricted to a short ride in some portion of the bus service in Islamabad.

According to the revised schedule, the inauguration ceremony would be held at Convention Centre Islamabad at 4:00 pm tomorrow (Thursday) for which revised invitations were dispatched to governors, chief ministers and speakers of all the four provincial assemblies, president and prime minister of AJK, cabinet members, ambassadors and diplomats of different countries stationed in the federal capital, political leaders and elite of the town.

A ruling party leader from Rawalpindi said that he was contacting people invited to the event from Rawalpindi to intimate them about the change in the schedule of the event as it would not be possible for them to redistribute the revised invitation cards.

Besides addressing the inauguration ceremony at Convention Centre, Prime Minister Sharif would also take a ride of the metro bus with select party leaders, cabinet colleagues and foreign diplomats but surely their ride would be restricted to certain portion of the service owing to security reasons, an insider in the party informed.

In all, twenty-four bus stations have been set up along the 24 kilometres long route from Rawalpindi Saddar to Pak Secretariat Islamabad.
