KARACHI - Sindh government removed the Asif Haider Shah from the slot of commissioner Karachi and appointed BPS-20 officer Ejaz Ahmed Khan as new commissioner, The Nation learnt here on Thursday.

Former commissioner Asif Haider took charge a couple of months ago. He was removed by the provincial government without citing any reasons. Sources privy to the matter revealed that skirmish between Asif Haider and the provincial cabinet members was going on since long over various issues which ultimately resulted in his sacking. They said the reason behind his removal was confrontation with Local Government Minister Jam Khan Shoro.  It is worth mentioning here that Asif Haider is considered an influential bureaucrat who declined to fulfill the illegitimate demands of the ruling PPP government and he paid the price for that.

 A notification issued by Sindh government said that Ejaz Ahmed Khan, an officer of Pakistan Administrative Service (BS-20) Secretary, Social Initiatives Department with additional charge of MD, Thar Coal and Energy Board, has been posted with immediate effect as commissioner,  Karachi Division.
