Rawalpindi - A team of Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) Rawalpindi Region caught Secretary Union Council (UC) Lakhan red handed while receiving bribe from a citizen for registration of name of his sister in the record of the council, sources informed The Nation yesterday.

According to sources, Haroon Shehzad appeared before the ACE and lodged a complaint that he went to UC Lakhan for registration of name of her sister in the record where the secretary Rashid demanded bribe from him for the purpose. The team raided the office of secretary and caught him red handed while receiving bribe.

 from the complainant. A case was lodged against the secretary and further investigation was on, sources said.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Customs staff deputed at Benazir Bhutto Islamabad International Airport (BBIIAP) held a passenger after recovering huge amount of foreign currency from his luggage, sources informed.

They said that the Customs team was checking the luggage of the passengers who want to fly Sharjah through Airblue flight number PA-210 when the team detected presence of foreign currency worth Rs9.3 million in the baggage of Israr Muhammad hails from Swabi. The staff immediately arrested the accused for investigation. Sources said that the accused wanted to travel with five other family members. Till filing of this report, the accused was being grilled, informed sources.
