ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Sunday constituted central scrutiny cell for thorough scrutiny of nomination papers.
As per details garnered, the ECP secretary will head the bench. The bench comprising four teams will work 24/7.
ECP will begin receiving nomination papers from tomorrow. The cell will ensure thorough scrutiny of nomination papers under Article 62 and Article 63.
The bench will collect information pertaining to dual nationality, non-payment of loans and income tax from competent authorities including National Database and Registration Authority, Federal Investigation Agency and Federal Board of Revenue.
The cell will also act coordination centre between returning officers and authorities concerned. The ECP has issued a new schedule for accepting nomination papers.
According to ECP, nomination papers will now be accepted from 4th to 8th of this month. The names of candidates will be published on 8th of June.
There has been no other change in election schedule. It is worth here to mention that general elections 2018 for Lower House of the Parliament and all provincial assemblies will be held on July 25.
