LAHORE - District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood has directed the officials to finalise arrangements for celebrating Jashn-e-Milad-un-Nabi on March 10 in a befitting manner. He was chairing a meeting held here at the Jinnah Hall on Monday to review the tasks assigned to various civic agencies in this regard. District Coordination Officer Sajjad Ahmad Bhutta, Chairman Public Accounts Committee in District Council Lahore Raja Munawar and officials from police, Wasa, SWM, Lesco, Rescue 1122, Civil Defence and other departments as well as organisers of the main procession participated in the meeting. The District Nazim urged the city police for making foolproof security arrangements on this occasion. He emphasised the need for updating the security plan in the backdrop of prevailing security situation. He asked for carrying out detailed sweeping of the procession route besides deploying sufficient number of police personnel for providing security to the participants of the procession. The meeting was informed that there would be no loadshedding on the day. Fragrance will be sprayed along the entire route of the procession from Dehli Gate to Data Darbar besides showering rose petals on the participants of procession from the plane. Amer directed for immediately initiating patchwork of roads in the area, removing encroachments and taking other necessary measures. He ordered the SWM department to finish its task two days before the procession and obtain written certificates from the organisers in this regard. He asked the Wasa officials for removing silt from drains situated in the area for ensuring quick disposal of waste water. The meeting decided that Wasa will provide three boozers of drinking water for the participants of the procession, district health department will set up temporary medical camps, ambulances and Rescue 1122 vehicles will be sent along the procession and bomb disposal squad, fire brigade staff as well as civil defense volunteers will also be put on alert on this occasion. Milad Conference on 9th Naib Nazim Tehreek Minhaj-ul-Quran has said that over one million people would express their love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) by participating in 25th annual Milad Conference to be held at Minar-e-Pakistan ground on March 9. He said this while addressing a press conference at the Lahore Press Club on Monday. Zahid Fiaz said that about 50 committees have been constituted to finalise arrangements for the largest gathering of Islamic world. He said that Dr Tahirul Qadri would address the Milad Conference. He urged the government to avoid allowing unethical activities in the guise of 'Basant' during the sacred month of Rabi-ul-Awal. He said that Ziafat-e-Milad and Mehafils would be organised throughout the month of Rabi-ul-Awal.
