LAHORE - Governor Punjab Salmaan Taseer has said that the students getting education in economics are future leaders of industries and business of Pakistan. There is a need for creating such "financing mind" for our future success who should be proud of being Pakistani and consider themselves part of that society where millions of people are still to be educated. Addressing the 7th convocation of Lahore School of Economics here on Monday, Salmaan Taseer said that the process of learning does not end with obtaining of degree. Young graduates still have to learn a lot and this process continues throughout the life. The governor said that Pakistani nation had provided facilities and opportunities to the students due to which they can achieve many successes. He advised the students that after achieving a prominent place in the society they should remember those who lag behind and are deprived of such facilities and opportunities. He said that the success of nations is not only judged by the number of successful people but the number of persons who lag behind. There is a need of such economic experts who could formulate economic policies for the welfare of poor people which could help check the increase in number of deprived people and our society could achieve new avenues of prosperity. Earlier, Rector of Lahore School of Economics Dr Shahid Amjad Chaudhry presented performance report of the school. The governor awarded degrees to those doing MPhil, MS, MBA, Executive MBA, MSc, BSc(Honours) and BBA in various research disciplines of economics and gave away medals to the students showing outstanding performance.
