PESHAWAR – Expressing grave concern over the delay in disbursement of compensation money among the families affected in Jamrud blast, scores of family members and relatives of the victims staged a protest demonstration here outside the Press Club on Saturday.
The protesters led by Abdul Khaliq, Senior Vice President, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Jamrud Khyber Agency and a civil society representative Zar Ali were holding placards and banners inscribed with demands for immediate disbursement of compensation money among the bereaved families of Jamrud blast.
They also chanted slogans against Political Agent Khyber Agency and Fata Secretariat, what they termed responsible for using delaying tactics in releasing of the compensation amount.
Talking to media persons on the occasion, Zar Ali said that the government had announced an amount of Rs 0.3 million for each dead and Rs 0.1 million for each injured in the Jamrud bomb blast.
But, he alleged, the authorities were yet to release the already announced compensation money among the affected families that has created unrest among the bereaved families due to the unnecessary delay.
The protesters demanded of Governor Engr Shaukatullah to take notice of the delay.
