SAHIWAL - Lawyers boycotted the court proceedings in respond to the call of District Bar Association of Sahiwal to observe a complete strike, demanding establishment of a Lahore High Court bench here.

A District Bar Association meeting was held in the bar-room in this regard. Presided over by DBA President Muhammad Hussain, the meeting was addressed by Punjab Bar Council Members Mahar Qutabuddin Tariq, Iftikhar Khawar and others senior members of the bar. It was said that Sahwial city is at the distance of 170 kilometres both from Lahore and Multan. So, an LHC bench should be established at Sahwial, they demanded.

They said that the local litigants have to spend money and time to reach the big cities for legal cases.

They said that the District Bar Association Sahiwal had decided to continue its struggle till the establishment of a High Court bench at Shaiwal. The lawyers should make efforts, as they made during the lawyers movement for restoration of the judiciary, for this purpose as well.
