BAHAWALPUR - The selection of efficient and competent teaching staff is essential at all costs to maintain the quality of teaching and academic standards, stressed the vice chancellor of Islamia University of Bahawalpur.

He claimed that merit policy in all fields was being observed at the IUB to ensure positive results. Dr Muhammad Mukhtar was meeting with the senior faculty members after inspecting the proceedings of a written test of the candidates for visiting lecturers posts here at Baghdadul Jadeed Campus of Islamia University of Bahawalpur.

He said that the merit policy was the key for success as the IUB had climbed HEC's four ranking points within a short span of time, just in a year only due to commitment for progress and promotion of academic and research activities at IUB.

He said that the proficient teachers would be the architects for the bright future of students. "So, we have to recruit well reputed, proficient and devoted teachers to achieve leading towards success and guide the students in the right direction for national cause," he said.

He disclosed that a clean and transparent process had been adopted for the selection of the deserving and talented visiting teachers for different departments, and that he was personally supervising the whole proceeding to ensure fair selection.

Around 1,000 candidates appeared in the written tests for the visiting faculty members for various disciplines in the IUB and affiliated colleges to meet the increasing demands for better education.

However, the participants appreciated the IUB over the appropriate arrangements.
