ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) performed sixth successful kidney transplant Saturday.
The sixth renal transplant was done on 21 year-old Farzana Bibi from Pindi Ghaib. Kidney was donated by her 20-year-old sister Rakhshanda Bibi. According to officials operation was successful and both the donor and recipient are out of danger. 
These kidney transplant operations were started after two years of gap. The operation team comprised of Professor Tanveer Khaliq, Professor Nadeem Ahmed, Professor Naeem, Professor Sajid Mumtaz Qazi, Professor Khalid, Professor Ghias-ud-Deen Butt and Professor Imtaz Masroor.
Dr Waseem Khawaja, Pims Spokesman informed that the operation was free of cost and all the medicines were provided free of cost by the courtesy of Pims Executive Director Professor Dr Riaz Warriach. He said any patient who has his or her blood relation who is willing for kidney donation should contact Professor Dr. Ghias-ud-Deen Butt, Professor Naeem, Professor Sajid Qazi or Professor Tanveer Khaliq for free transplant facilities at Pims.
