NAROWAL - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Zardari and his cronies looted national resources ruthlessly, pushed the country and the nation into darkness and set such records of corruption over the past five years, upon which every Pakistani is ashamed.
Addressing a public meeting at Football Ground here in Narowal on Saturday, Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif regretted that the corrupt rulers deprived the masses of livelihood only to fill their pockets and made the nation bankrupt. He urged the masses to bring Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif into power through the power of their vote to save the country and eliminate corruption.
The Punjab chief minister vowed that if PML-N came into power, it would get the country rid of energy crisis under the leadership of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. He reiterated that projects like metro bus would be launched in big cities throughout the country including Karachi which would usher in a new era of development. The Punjab CM while increasing the quota of wheat procurement for district Narowal announced that road would be constructed from Zafarwal to Sarjal and Chak Amro for the convenience of the people.
PML-N Information Secretary Ahsan Iqbal, Members Provincial Assembly Awais Qasim, Col (r) Shuja Khanzada, PML-N District Narowal President Malik Muhammad Tariq Awan, Khawaja Waseem Butt and Mian Muhammad Rashid also addressed the public meeting.
Addressing the public meeting, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that he had come to Narowal to inaugurate development projects completed at a cost of billions of rupees and not fixing the plaques of new projects. He said that the Punjab government had completed mega development projects expeditiously in a very transparent manner throughout the province during the last five years which he claimed were unprecedented.
He said that if corruption of even a single penny was proved in the projects completed during the last five years, he would be accountable to the public. The Punjab CM said that a revolutionary policy had been evolved for equipping the young generation with modern knowledge and laptops were being distributed among male and female students on merit. He said that solar panels were also being distributed free of cost among male and female students on merit under Ujala Programme for continuing their studies during loadshedding. Shahbaz Sharif said that solid steps had also been taken for the promotion of agriculture and prosperity of farmers. He said that green tractors had been given to small farmers with a subsidy of Rs200,000 on each tractor. He vowed that if people again gave an opportunity of service, the development process would be spread throughout the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Ahsan Iqbal said that district Narowal had always been a bastion of PML-N and it had the honour to remain invincible during every era. He said that only committed leadership could complete development projects rapidly and completion of splendid metro bus project in a record period of 11 months was a clear proof of it. Ahsan Iqbal expressed the hope that the entire Pakistan would be changed under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif after winning the general elections.
Earlier, on arrival at Narowal, the Chief Minister inaugurated Narowal Campus of University of Engineering & Technology, District Headquarters Hospital, Shakargarh Road and Narowal-Jasar Road.
