LAHORE - Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday directed the Provincial Administration to improve and strengthen coordination with the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry and rectify the problems being faced by the business community.

The Chief Minister was talking to an eighteen-member LCCI delegation led by its President Farooq Iftikhar.

The Chief Minister said that his government was quite alive to the economic challenges therefore it had given a special attention towards Energy, Infrastructure development, livestock, Agriculture, IT, and law and order situation.

The Chief Minister directed the provincial administration to meet the Executive Committee of the LCCI at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry and listen to the business community point of view and give their feedback to the provincial government so that coordinated efforts could be made to solve their problems without any further delay.

He said that the efforts of the government have yielded very positive results because now a number of investors are giving preference to the province as far as new investments are concerned.

The Chief Minister also agreed with the LCCI President’s proposal regarding making the coordination cell at Chief Minister House more interactive.

Speaking on the occasion, the LCCI President Farooq Iftikhar said that the business community in general and the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry in particular fully appreciate the Chief Minister Punjab for making frantic efforts for improvement of economy. Farooq Iftikhar said that the completion of Rapid Bus Service (RBS) project in record time is a feather in the government cap as it would help bring in much needed foreign investment in the province besides improving the image of the country.

The LCCI President informed the Chief Minister that the shortage of energy had stalled economic activities but a better coordination among the provincial departments and the chambers of commerce in the province could help a lot for the smooth running of businesses.
