LAHORE

Pakistan Muslim League (PML)-Q senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi has said that the gold reserves in Chiniot were another big bluff like Nandipur power project.

He said this while addressing a big gathering on the death anniversary of former Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Arif Nakai at Wan Adhan in Pattoki area on Sunday. Son of the former Chief Minister Sardar Talib Nakai also addressed the gathering in which MPA Sardar Asif Nakai, Dr Azeemuddin Lakhvi and other PML leaders, workers and elite of the area were present in large numbers.

He further said that our 40 members of the Punjab Assembly were bought over in 2008 and now rulers who broke own record of horse trading were afraid of their own members due to their performance and defacing the Constitution for their personal interests.

He said that Almighty Allah will surely punish those who shed the blood of the innocent people in Model Town Lahore and ,elsewhere, and making false promises with the people. He said that anti-farmer govt had turned the prosperous farmers of our tenure into borrowers.

Ch Parvez Elahi said that it was clearly written in Article 226 of the Constitution that election to the Senate will be held through secret voting, likewise secret voting was also held in the election to the National Assembly and Provincial Assemblies, why the rulers were defacing the Constitution for accomplishing their own desires. The rulers were afraid of Senate election because they had given no time to their party MPAs who were fed up with their attitude, he added.

Continuing Ch Parvez Elahi said that we are in contact with the PPP regarding the Constitutional amendment for the Senate elections. He said that Shahbaz Sharif in his speech in Chiniot had stated that when on the Day of Judgment he would appear before Almighty Allah he would tell that he had left behind the river of gold and also levelled the allegation that our govt had looted this treasure.

Quoting from the record, Ch Parvez Elahi said: “In 1988 Nawaz Sharif as the Chief Minister had ordered investigation of reserves in Chiniot, afterwards Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif had become the Chief Ministers three times but they did not work on this, he (Ch Parvez Elahi) got the file out of dump during his tenure and got samples at a cost of Rs 4 crore and sent these to Pakistan Steel Mills laboratory. Report received said that that the iron ore was not as per the required standard and these reserves were useless for us, there was no mention of gold in that report, they had put gold in it afterwards, he had left the charge as the Chief Minister in November 2007 as such their second allegation in the context of Arshad Waheed and Company was wrong, when Justice Ejaz Nisar had become the caretaker Chief Minister, Pakistanis residing in the US had offered to invest Rs 24 crore on this project and this summary was approved during period of Chief Minister Ejaz Nisar, after one month Shahbaz Sharif had come then how the treasure was looted as the land was not transferred to the company till then, the company had filed a case, what Shahbaz Sharif had done in seven years from 2008 to 2015, till now Rs 1.5 billion had been dumped in Chiniot, now they had brought in Dr Samar Mubarakmand who had tried his level  best that German experts should state that there were gold, copper and iron ore reserves but German company refused to oblige till the report had come.

This was the bluff like the two brothers had played about Nandipur power project, they had inaugurated it but the people were asking as to where was electricity?, they were telling lie to the nation.”

He had left surplus Punjab which was now under debt of Rs 8 billion, people were prosperous during our tenure, everything was in abundance, “we challenge that come and have an open debate”.  He said that they had provided facilities and incentives as well as interest free loans to the farmers during our tenure as a result of which agricultural production had increased, farmer had become prosperous and overall national income had also increased but the present rulers had instead of increasing our facilities enhanced problems and difficulties for the farmers.
