Islamabad - The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday issued arrest warrants of a person Sarwar Gondal, who is an alleged front man of Capital Development Authority (CDA) officials and receives kickbacks from the affectees of sector I-16 on account of compensations paid to them.

The IHC single bench comprising Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui directed the CDA to submit a detailed report of the compensations paid to the affectees of sector I-16.

The petitioners, who are affectees of sector I-16, contended before the court that CDA paid compensation to them and later they took back half of the amount through their front man Sarwar Gondal.

While hearing the matter, Justice Siddiqui expressed resentment over a CDA representative Nadeem Abro and observed that the development authority has deputed touts for payments to the affectees.

He further said that these touts were playing havoc with the lives of affectees. Later, he deferred the hearing for further proceedings till March 16.

In another matter, Justice Noor-ul-Haq N Qureshi of the IHC deferred the hearing in the bail application of an accused, former chairman of Employees’ Old age Benefit Institution (EOBI) Zafar Gondal, till March 06.

Zafar Gondal is the main accused in multibillion rupees EOBI land scam. The counsel for Gondal, Farooq H Naek Advocate, submitted some additional documents before the court in Gondal’s bail application.

The court directed Naek to provide copies of these additional documents to the federal government’s counsel.

Another accused in this case Rana Abdul Qayyum withdrew his bail application and consequently it was dismissed.

Farooq Naek informed the court that he had submitted some additional documents in this case at which a standing counsel Jehangir Khan Jadoon representing the federal government said that he had not received copies of these documents.

Therefore, the court directed Naek to provide copies of those documents to the federal government’s counsel and deferred the hearing in this matter.
