WAZIRABAD

Dozens of people protested against a revenue officer or patwari and laid a siege to the AC Office as he had allegedly demanded bribe for issuance of Fard.

The protesters took out a rally against Patwari Rana Irfan and marched from Lahori Gate to Tehsil office. They raised slogans against the Patwari. They were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans.

Shaukat Farooq, a protester, stated that Irfan was not issuing Fard of his property for months and was demanding bribe of Rs100,000 for the purpose. "I have sent a complaint to the assistant commissioner, DCO Gujranwala, anti corruption and the chief minister of Punjab but to no avail," he said.

Meanwhile, AC M Sohail Akhtar, taking action on the complaint, has deputed Naib Tehsildar Afzaal as inquiry officer to probe the matter and submit report to him.

When contacted, Patwari Irfan stated that he had already issued Fard to Shaukat Farooq but the latter had demanded another Fard with changing as per his desire.
