LAHORE - A 30-year-old motorcyclist was crushed to death by a recklessly-driven truck in Badami Bagh on Monday, police said. Ishtiaq Ahmed riding on a motorcycle was on his way home when a truck bumped into his bike. The man died on the spot while the passersby managed to capture the driver. Later, the truck driver was handed over to the police for interrogation.  

FOUND DEAD: A 52-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances from Naulakha police precincts on early Monday. The deceased was identified as Shahid Yaqoob. The Edhi ambulance service shifted the body to the morgue for autopsy. The police are investigating.   

2 auto-lifters arrested

Anti-Vehicle Lifting Staff (AVLS) of the Lahore police on Monday claimed to have smashed a gang of motorcycle-lifters by arresting its two members. The police also recovered 14 stolen motorcycles from their possession.

A police spokesperson said that on the orders of SSP (Investigations) Rana Ayyaz Saleem a special crackdown is underway against the auto-lifters. A police team headed by in-charge AMCL Sadar division arrested two motorcycle lifters during a successful raid. The arrested auto-lifters were identified as Muhammad Bilal and Allah Rakha. Further investigations are underway.

DRUG PEDDLERS CAUGHT: Naulaka police have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered 15-kg ephedrine chemicals from their possession. A police spokesperson said that SP City Asad Sarfraz constituted a special team to hunt down the elements involved in narcotics trade. The police team arrested Shahid and Zulfikar and recovered 15-kg drugs from their possession.
