MQM demands action against banned outfits

Rangers spokesperson rejects MQM’s claim of not arresting culprits

KARACHI - Condemning the target killing of party workers, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) coordination committee member Haider Abbas Rizvi demanded the government to take immediate action against the banned outfits.
Addressing press conference at Khursheed Begum Secretariat here on Monday, he said banned outfits’ activists were roaming freely across the city and carrying out the targeted killings of citizens.
He alleged that law enforcement agencies are taking no action against those terrorists involved in the killings of party workers and citizens.
MQM worker Imran Rizvi was killed on Sunday night in Malir area. Doctors, engineers and other professionals are also being killed on daily basis. He said the people were questioning that why such sectarian killings were carrying out only in Karachi. The MQM leader said activists of banned outfits were targeting MQM workers and people of a specific school of thought. He said Orangi Town had become the stronghold of the banned outfits, sectarian organisation and other terrorists’ groups.
He further said these groups were openly challenging the writ of the government by carrying out the killings of innocent citizens on the basis of religion. It seems that terrorists from the banned outfits have been given license to kill as no arrests have been made yet.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has also expressed reservations in this regard but no action was taken against the banned outfits. All political and religious parties are silent over Karachi situation, he added. “The rulers have closed their eyes while raids are being carried out at the houses of MQM workers on daily basis. He asked the people to take safety measures by themselves as the government has failed to provide them security.” Haider appealed to COAS General Raheel Sharif, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Interior Minister and Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah to take notice of the deteriorating law and order situation of Karachi.
Meanwhile in a statement, Rangers spokesperson rejected the stance of a political party. He said the operation was basically against the criminals without any discrimination. Terming the stance of the political party against the national security, he said such sort of statement was an attempt to harm the ongoing targeted operation in the city.
